The 5 visitors and home fleet of 9 enjoyed fresh and gusty conditions at Wimbleball SC Supernova open on the 15th August The first race saw a tangle of capsizes at the first downwind mark with Leslie Jeanes making an amazingly fast righting and racing recovery to finish 4th after a death roll capsize. Ken Heap has difficulty refitting his rudder but completed the race. Cotswold SC sailor Jeff Mountain took the lead with Wimbleball sailor Geoff Curtis using all of his local knowledge to try and catch Jeff without success.
After lunch the first race of the afternoon saw Peter Jones pull a dramatic lead to the first windward mark with Tom Abbott battling with him for the lead. Jeff Mountain took advantage and took first position with Peter Jones second and Tom Abbott third. Once again Jeff took the lead and held it in the third race with Wimbleball sailor Mostyn Thomas making a major improvement in the fresh winds to finish second with Geoff Curtis third.
